CONCENTRATION
"My drawings are palimpsests. In them I juxtapose and layer as I explore forms that I perceive as abstracted underpinnings of visual reality. This recent series is a continuation of work that started at Tyler in the 1970s during my master’s studies. The earlier drawings were in graphite and were quite large. This new series of small works combines watercolor, watercolor pencils, stencils, gouache, graphite, and sometimes collage on paper surfaces that vary from the extreme smoothness of hot press to deeply textured handmade papers."
